Operatives of the Edo State Police Command have arrested Ibrahim Yahaya Jolly, 27, for the alleged kidnapping of Igbinosun Evans, leader of Ugbogui community in Ovia South-East Local Government Area of the state.

The spokesman of the command, SP Moses Joel Yamu, disclosed this while parading five suspects arrested for various crimes in the state.

Yamu said the suspect was arrested after collecting the sum of N7 million as ransom from the victim’s family.

He said he was tracked and arrested by Intelligence Rapid Response Squad, IRRS.

The command spokesman said the suspect confessed to the crime and has been cooperating with the police for the possible arrest of others at large and recovery of their arms.

He added that Commissioner of Police Nemi Iwo, while appreciating the people of the state, appealed for cooperation with the command and other security agencies to rid the state of all forms of crime and criminality.

“There will be no room for criminals or criminality in the state; they should move elsewhere or the long arms of the law will catch up with them,” he said.
