The Adamawa State Police Command has apprehended eight suspected members of a syndicate involved in the theft of food supplies.

The group, which includes personnel from the Adamawa State Emergency Management Agency (ADSEMA) and militia members, was detained following a meticulously executed sting operation.

According to a statement released by the command’s spokesperson, SP Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje, the police acted swiftly on a tip-off about the planned robbery.

The suspects were apprehended at a warehouse in Limawa ward, Yola North Local Government Area, just hours after executing their plan.

Among the eight arrested, three are ADSEMA officials, while the remaining five are militia members.

The stolen items, which include ninety-eight bags of maize, millet, and guinea corn, were recovered during the operation.

The ages of the suspects range from 22 to 53, highlighting a diverse group involved in this organized crime.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Dankombo Morris, lauded the police team for their prompt response and professional conduct, which were instrumental in the successful arrest and recovery of the stolen grains.

CP Morris emphasised the importance of community cooperation in the fight against crime.

He urged the public to provide information on the whereabouts of criminals, assuring the government and citizens of Adamawa State of the police’s unwavering commitment to safeguarding lives and property.

The police have assured that thorough investigations will be conducted to uncover the full extent of the syndicate’s operations and bring all those involved to justice.
