The Edo State Police Command has arrested a couple for allegedly assaulting their eight-year-old maid, simply identified as Miss Previous.
DAILY POST reports that the Public Relations Officer of the command, SP Moses Joel Iyamu, who confirmed the incident, said the victim is currently undergoing treatment while the investigation is ongoing.
The incident reportedly happened somewhere around in Ikpoba Hill area near Benin City in Ikpoba Okha Local Government Area of the state.
The suspects were alleged to have inflicted injuries on the maid’s body, who happened to be her niece.

In her congratulatory remarks, the acting Vice Chancellor, Prof. Aisha Maikudi, lauded the dedication and hard work of the promoted staff. She emphasized the university’s commitment to fostering a culture of excellence through timely recognition of merit and career advancement. “These promotions reflect the University of Abuja’s commitment to fostering excellence, recognising merit, and encouraging growth among its staff,” Maikudi said. “I congratulate all the promoted individuals and urge them to continue contributing to the University’s vision of academic and professional distinction.” She further assured that all outstanding promotion cases had been reviewed and resolved, while pending cases awaited external assessment reports. This, she noted, underscores the university’s dedication to fairness, transparency, and meritocracy. In a 1:17-second viral video of the incident, a voice was heard asking the minor, “Who did this to you?” and the little girl replied, “Mummy Gabriel.”
The voice was heard saying: “This is molestation. Look at her body, they cut her and went to hide in church. Bring them out. We will burn down the church. Your duty is to hand them over to the police.
“They did this maltreatment to this girl and went to hide in the church. Bring Mummy Gabriel out. We will not report you to human rights, but the police will arrest you.”
The couple, DAILY POST learnt, were later arrested by the police after some good Nigerians reported the matter at the Oregbeni Police Division, Ikpoba Hill.
