The Rivers State Police Command has arrested Prophet Umueke Miracle, the General Overseer of Dynamic Flame of Fire and Miracle Ministries, for allegedly detaining his wife, Success Miracle, for five days at their residence in the GRA area of Port Harcourt.
Success accused her husband of financial control and emotional abuse, stating that he had forbidden her from owning a bank account since their marriage in 2017, despite failing to provide for her financially.
According to police reports, the drama unfolded when a team led by DPO Abacha stormed the residence to free Mrs. Success, who had been effectively held hostage under a regime of strict rules.
The wife, now safe and at the police station, recounted how her husband’s obsessive grip extended to even controlling her communication—seizing any phone she tried to use—and denying her the basic right to manage her own finances.
The arrest came on Tuesday night after the pastor reportedly forced his wife into his car and whisked her away to a rented house behind Casablanca, opposite the former Rita Gate.
When confronted over the allegations, Prophet Miracle obstinately insisted on being the sole interlocutor with the authorities—even as his wife’s testimony painted a picture of long-standing financial abuse and isolation stretching back to 2017.
Police Commissioner CP Olugbenga Adepoju was unimpressed by the pastor’s theatrics. “How can I allow someone to be locked inside a house? Am I an animal?” he demanded, before directing that the matter be handled by the State Criminal Investigation Department.
Though the cleric pleaded for the liberty to preach at church—an appeal that did little to distract from the seriousness of the offense—his wife’s safety and account took precedence.
