In a shocking incident captured on video, the police have confirmed the apprehension of two Special Constabularies who were seen demanding money from a Dutch woman rider in the Ojongbodu area along Iseyin/Ogbomosho Road in Oyo.

The arrest was detailed in a statement by the Force Public Relations Officer, Muyiwa Adejobi, who described their actions as “unprofessional, unacceptable, and punishable.”

The Commissioner of Police, Oyo State Command, CP Adebola Ayinde Hamzat, swiftly instituted a disciplinary procedure on the matter.

Adejobi emphasized the police authority’s condemnation of the act and ordered sanctions against the arrested constabularies and their supervising Divisional Police Officer.

“This act is unpolice-like and will never be tolerated in any manner,” stated Adejobi, reaffirming the commitment to maintaining professional standards within the police force.

He further assured that the Force would intensify efforts to implement the reorientation program initiated by the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, aimed at addressing issues of misconduct and repositioning the Nigeria Police.

The incident adds to growing concerns about the conduct of law enforcement officers and highlights the importance of ongoing efforts to instill discipline and accountability within the police force.

The police authority’s swift response reflects a commitment to maintaining public trust and upholding the principles of justice.

As the disciplinary procedure unfolds, there is a renewed call for increased vigilance and accountability to ensure that law enforcement agencies operate with the highest standards of professionalism and integrity.

The incident serves as a reminder of the need for continuous efforts to reform and reorient the police force for the betterment of society.
