The Ogun State Police Command has arrested Kehinde Yemitan, a suspected ritualist, just days after his twin brother, Taiwo Yemitan, was apprehended with a fresh human head and dismembered body parts in Abeokuta.
According to the command’s spokesperson, SP Omolola Odutola, Kehinde was captured on Monday, December 30, 2024, in the Ilogbo community following a tip-off from a volunteer informant.
His twin, Taiwo, was earlier arrested on December 22, 2024, at his residence behind Atinsola petrol station in Abeokuta, after he lured their victim, identified as Darasimi, to his home for ritual purposes.
Odutola disclosed that the twins, along with an accomplice identified as Kazeem, conspired to murder Darasimi, a night worker, and dismember her body. Upon receiving credible intelligence about Kehinde’s hideout, the police, in collaboration with the So-Safe Corps, launched a manhunt and successfully arrested him.
“Several community members confirmed his involvement in criminal activities,” Odutola stated, adding that Kehinde has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for further investigation.
The command emphasized its ongoing efforts to raise awareness about the risks associated with hookup culture, urging young women to adopt sustainable means of livelihood to avoid falling victim to such heinous crimes.
“This unfortunate incident serves as a grim reminder for young females to be cautious and prioritize their safety over financial desperation,” the spokesperson said.
The police reiterated their commitment to updating the public as investigations unfold, while also warning against casual relationships with strangers, which often lead to dire consequences.
