Police Nab Armed Robbery Suspect In Military Uniform In Nasarawa

Intelligence-led operation on Sunday, operatives from the Angwan Lambu Police Division in Keffi arrested Godswill Achili, a suspect linked to an armed robbery syndicate that has been terrorizing commuters along the Abuja-Keffi road and parts of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

According to SP Ramhan Nansel, the command’s public relations officer, Achili was caught red-handed while wearing military camouflage—a ruse to impersonate a soldier.

“Upon interrogation, he confessed to wearing the uniform deceitfully and engaging in armed robbery,” he disclosed.

Investigations revealed that Achili is a member of a sophisticated criminal outfit known for its daring operations.

The syndicate, which also operates in the FCT, uses a black, unregistered Toyota Avalon to lure unsuspecting victims, predominantly youths and students travelling between Keffi, New Karu, and the FCT.

The criminals reportedly entice their targets under false pretences before robbing them of cash and mobile phones.

While this arrest marks a significant breakthrough, authorities have indicated that two other members of the gang remain at large.

“Efforts are ongoing to nab the remaining suspects and dismantle the entire syndicate,” the police spokesman added.

Commissioner of Police CP Shetima Jauro Mohammed has urged the public to remain vigilant.

“We call on citizens to report any suspicious activities immediately. Your cooperation is vital in our fight against these criminal elements,” he stated.
