Operatives of the Kaduna State Police Command have successfully rescued 13 victims of human trafficking and apprehended three suspects in connection with the crime.
The rescue operation, executed on Friday, at approximately 7pm, intercepted an unmarked vehicle en route to Oyo State.
According to the Force spokesperson, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the suspects apprehended were identified as Samson Peter (25 years old), Haruna Duniya (45 years old), and Abdulazaq Olawole (58 years old). They were caught red-handed while transporting the trafficked victims.
“The victims, who were being transported against their will, were promptly rescued from the clutches of their captors,” ACP Adejobi stated in a press release issued on Sunday.
The identities of the rescued individuals have not been disclosed pending further investigation into the circumstances of their trafficking.
He added that the swift action taken by the police aligns with directives from the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, Ph.D., NPM.
He said the IGP commended the operatives for their gallantry and unwavering commitment to protecting citizens and combating criminal activities.
He reaffirmed the Police Force’s dedication to safeguarding communities across Nigeria.
He stated that investigations into the incident are ongoing, with authorities determined to dismantle any networks involved in human trafficking and bring all perpetrators to justice.
