Two female sales attendants abducted from an Agro Vet shop in Ilero, Kajola Local Government Area of Oyo State, have been rescued by the state police command following a coordinated operation involving security agents and local vigilante groups.

The victims, who were kidnapped in the late hours of Wednesday, at the Oke-Are area of Ilero, were safely recovered six days later on Tuesday, without harm, according to a statement issued by the state Police Public Relations Officer, SP Adewale Osifeso.

Osifeso disclosed that the successful rescue was the result of a swift tactical response involving the intelligence unit of the command, as well as the support of hunters and community-based security outfits.

“The Police is pleased to announce the successful rescue of two salesgirls who were abducted late in the evening of Wednesday from an Agro Vet shop located at Oke-Are, Ilero,” the police spokesman said.

“Following a swift and coordinated operation by the intelligence and tactical assets of the command, in concert with local hunters and vigilantes, the girls were located and safely rescued unharmed.”

He noted that both victims were immediately taken for medical assessment to ensure their physical and psychological well-being and have since been reunited with their families.

Although no arrest has been made as of the time of this report, the command confirmed that efforts are ongoing to track down and apprehend those behind the kidnapping.

The police called on residents of the area and the general public to remain vigilant and to support the command with credible information that could aid in the arrest of the perpetrators.

The rescue comes amid growing concerns over the spate of abductions and insecurity in parts of Oyo State, prompting renewed calls for strengthened community policing and collaborative security frameworks.

PLATFORM TIMES gathered that the police have promised to intensify patrols and intelligence surveillance in the area to forestall similar occurrences.
