The Nigeria Police Force recruitment exercise, the Police Service Commission (PSC) revealed that a staggering 547,774 applications flooded their portal since it opened on October 15, 2023.
The recruitment, aimed at filling positions in the Constable Cadre, witnessed Kaduna State leading with 40,272 applications, while Anambra held the lowest spot with 1,664 applicants.
Among the applications, 358,900 candidates successfully advanced to the next stage, facing scrutiny in physical assessments, credentials verification, medical evaluations, and stringent background checks.
Notably, 84,606 applications were rejected due to applicants exceeding the stipulated age range of 18 to 25.
Kaduna State maintained its dominant position, followed by Adamawa and Borno States with 36,398 and 32,048 applications, respectively.
The Chairman of the PSC, Dr. Solomon Arase, expressed satisfaction with the overwhelming response, emphasizing the positive indication of Nigerian youths’ keen interest in joining the police force.
Dr. Arase urged South-Eastern youths to reconsider their reluctance toward police work, emphasizing the importance of shunning anti-government criminal activities for the betterment of their communities.
He highlighted the commission’s commitment to ensuring a fair and merit-based recruitment process, fostering a new era for the Nigeria Police.
The portal is set to close on November 26, 2023, marking the culmination of this significant recruitment endeavour.
