A tragic accident claimed the life of a pregnant woman in Lambata, Gurara Local Government Area of Niger State on Saturday, December 21, 2024.
The incident occurred when a speeding commercial bus lost control and crashed into a residential building.
The bus, which was reportedly traveling from Lagos to Kano, rammed into the family compound of the late Village Head of Lambata, Abdulsafur Lambata.
Eyewitnesses revealed that the pregnant woman, a traveller whose vehicle had broken down nearby, had been resting in front of the building when the crash occurred.
According to sources, the bus driver was at high speed before the vehicle veered off the road and ploughed into the compound, killing the victim on the spot.
The devastating incident has left residents of the community in shock, as they mourn the untimely death of the victim.
Efforts to reach local authorities for comments on measures to prevent such occurrences were unsuccessful as of the time of filing this report.
