Al-Usrah Incorporated, a prominent Islamic organisation based in Port Harcourt, has condemned the recurring killings and mass abductions across the country, describing them as an assault on humanity and a threat to Nigeria’s stability.
In a strongly worded statement jointly signed by its Chief Imam, Prof. Abdulrasaq Kilani, and Secretary-General, Salaudeen Ibrahim, the group expressed outrage over the latest attacks that claimed lives and left several students kidnapped in Kebbi, Kwara and Niger States.
The organisation referenced the recent invasion of Government Girls Comprehensive School, Maga, Kebbi State, the violent attack on CAC Church in Eruku, Kwara State, and the abduction incident at St.
Mary Private School, Niger State, lamenting that the incidents have plunged families and communities into renewed fear and grief.
“No parent deserves the pain of not knowing where their children are; no community deserves to live under the shadow of terror; and no Nigerian deserves to feel unsafe in their homeland,” the statement read.
Al-Usrah said it was “deeply pained” by the trauma inflicted on families and urged authorities to prioritise the lives and security of schoolchildren, worshippers, and residents nationwide.
Drawing from Qur’anic teachings, the group noted that the killing of innocent persons is expressly forbidden in Islam, quoting Qur’an 5:32: “Whoever kills a soul…it is as if he had slain all mankind; and whoever saves one — it is as if he has saved all mankind.”
According to the organisation, the escalating violence—including kidnappings, killings, and attacks on learning institutions and places of worship—represents a direct violation of divine injunctions and universal principles of justice and compassion.
The Islamic group called on the Federal Government and security agencies to act “firmly and decisively” to secure the immediate release of abducted children and other victims, stressing that no nation can thrive under pervasive insecurity.
“Our schools, children, and places of worship must be protected. We call on the authorities to bring the perpetrators to justice and restore peace across affected communities,” the statement added.
Al-Usrah also offered prayers for the grieving families, seeking strength, patience, and comfort for those affected, while asking Allah to guide Nigeria’s leaders and return the kidnapped victims safely to their loved ones.
