Thousands of women have trooped into the streets to protest the alleged imposition of a Peoples Democratic Party women leader on the people in Taraba.

The protest which began at the Jolly Nyame stadium last week following the alleged imposition of the former Commissioner of Information and Reorientation, Lois Emmanuel, as the Women leader of the party continued on Friday.

Armed with placards of various inscriptions, the protesting women said Lois was imposed on them by some elements of the party.

The protesters who claimed that the newly elected women leader is not their choice candidate and called on the state governor, Dr Agbu Kefas to as a matter of urgency wade in.

They said the governor’s proactive actions will go a long way to avert disunity and internal wrangling in the party.

The women who are demanding that the right peg should be inserted in the right hole vowed not to relent on their demands until they are addressed by the leadership of the party.

“We want the right thing to be done in time to save the party from collapsing and losing the 2027 general election in our dear state.”The women demanded.

When reached for comments, the party’s spokesperson, Andeta’rang Iremea, said the party will soon issue a statement in regards to the ongoing protests.

The women, it would be recalled, had earlier disrupted the state Congress of the party when the name of Louis was announced as the party’s women leader by the chairman of the state Congress.
