Residents, including People With Disabilities (PWDs), marketers, and others in Abeokuta South local government in Ogun State, have hailed the state governor, Dapo Abiodun, and the nation president, Bola Tinubu, as they get their palliatives.
The palliatives were given to them on Wednesday at the local government secretariat, Abeokuta, Ogun state.
Recall that the federal government disbursed N72 billion in palliatives to all 36 states in the country to mitigate the effects of the removal of the fuel subsidy.
Speaking at the event, the LG Chairman, Hon. Omolaja Majekodunmi, assured that the palliatives would be distributed to everyone in his jurisdiction.
He emphasized that the palliatives would reach all 442 polling units in the local government, ensuring that no one is left without assistance.
He stated, “It will reach every corner of the local government, including all 442 polling units. We are distributing palliatives to all these units.”
He therefore expressed gratitude to the president and governor for the initiative, highlighting how it would alleviate the people’s hardships.
During the event, Ileyemi Olayinka, the women leader of the Joint National Association of Persons Living with Disability, expressed her appreciation to both the president and the state governor for their kind gestures towards PWDs in Ogun State.
She remarked, “We extend our heartfelt gratitude to His Excellency for his generous support to PWDs in Ogun state, and we appreciate the governor for considering us worthy.”
Additionally, Tunji Falola, the president of the Ogun State Council of Baales, expressed his appreciation to the governor for keeping his promises and to the president for not abandoning his people.
Notable attendees at the event included representatives from the Hausa and Igbo communities, as well as representatives from the Muslim and Christian communities, alongside other dignitaries.
