In a bid to combat noise pollution, the Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency (LASEPA) has closed down another branch of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) and six other establishments.
The affected properties include Dominion City Church, Red Bar, Farm City, The Odyssey Apartments, Acuma Event Centre, and Fortunes Shortlet Apartment.
Situated in various parts of Lekki Phase 1, Oniru, Lekki, and Ajah on the Lagos Island axis, the establishments were sealed in adherence to LASEPA’s mandate to protect the environment from noise pollution and other infractions.
The RCCG branch affected by the closure is The New Covenant Assembly.
LASEPA, in a statement on its X handle, emphasized its commitment to enforcing environmental regulations.
“We have sealed up several establishments, including a lounge, bar, event centre, churches, and residential apartments for violating the state’s environmental regulations,” it said.
The sealed establishments, spanning different locations, were found in Lekki Phase 1, Oniru Lekki, and Ajah on the Lagos Island axis.
The government justified the measure, citing the need to address instances of noise pollution and other environmental violations.
LASEPA asserted its commitment to ensuring a peaceful, sustainable environment that is safer, cleaner, and environmentally friendly.
