Senator Lawal Adamu Usman, representing Kaduna Central Senatorial District, has dismissed the recall threat issued by the Kaduna Elders Forum (KEF) as baseless and politically motivated.
In a strongly worded statement on Tuesday, the Senator accused the group of acting as proxies for his political opponents, describing their allegations of non-performance as “infantile outbursts” and “the ranting of meddlesome interlopers.”
This marks the second time in recent months that Senator Usman, popularly known as Senator LA, has faced a recall threat from the group.
He noted that the same individuals had previously made a similar attempt under the guise of another organization, the Kaduna Peace and Tranquility Forum, but failed to substantiate their claims.
In his statement titled “Kaduna Elders’ Forum’s Infantile Outbursts: Empty Barrel Making Most Noise,” the lawmaker reiterated his focus on his legislative duties as the Chairman of the Senate Committee on Education (Basic and Secondary) and Vice Chairman of the Senate Committee on Banking, Insurance, and Financial Institutions.
Senator LA stressed that his time is dedicated to addressing national issues, not engaging in “frivolous arguments” orchestrated by what he described as politically compromised individuals.
“Legislative business is serious work, not for the faint-hearted or lazy,” Senator LA said. “I am too busy delivering results that are visible and measurable to be distracted by the lies and theatrics of a group serving the selfish interests of failed politicians.”
The Senator highlighted his record of accomplishments over the past 18 months, dismissing KEF’s allegations as unfounded.
He detailed numerous initiatives aimed at improving education, infrastructure, and economic empowerment in his constituency.
These include: Construction of 100 smart primary school buildings, Provision of scholarships and sponsorship for WAEC and UTME exams, Installation of boreholes for potable water and solar-powered lights,training for farmers and women in soap-making and fish farming, with start-up capital provided, payment of registration fees for 1,000 tertiary institution students and distribution of N500,000 business start-up grants to 500 beneficiaries.
Senator LA also cited his successful motion urging the Federal Ministry of Works to expedite the ongoing reconstruction of the Abuja-Kaduna-Kano expressway, which received unanimous Senate approval.
“These achievements are unprecedented and cut across all seven local government areas in Kaduna Central,” he stated.
“The so-called elders lack the moral and factual basis to criticize my performance.”
Senator Usman accused the KEF of recycling baseless threats and hiding under the guise of elder statesmanship to mislead the public.
He characterized their actions as “light-hearted comedy” and urged his constituents to treat the recall threat with the disdain it deserves.
“Last year, they issued a 14-day ultimatum for my recall, which ended in failure. Now, they have rebranded under a new name, only to issue the same empty threats,” he said.
“Their ignorance and jealousy are evident, but I remain focused on my mandate to deliver real change to the people of Kaduna Central.”
The Senator called on the people of Kaduna Central to remain calm and disregard the “provocative antics” of the KEF, emphasizing his unwavering commitment to fulfilling his campaign promises.
He noted that his weekly visits to the constituency and philanthropic initiatives through his LA Cares Foundation have further strengthened his bond with the electorate.
“From education to healthcare, infrastructure, and economic empowerment, I have been working tirelessly to uplift my constituents,” he said.
“These so-called elders are merely envious of the overwhelming support I continue to receive from the people.”
