Religious leaders in the country have received a cautionary message urging them to refrain from cursing and engaging in confrontations with political leaders over their shortcomings or unfulfilled campaign promises.
Pastor Richard Adeboye, the Pastor-in-charge of Region 12 of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Ogun Province 4, delivered this warning during the Halleluyah Mega Praise Night Season 2 held at Shimawa High School in Ogun state.
Pastor Adeboye emphasized that despite the protests and fights led by religious leaders, there has been little change, emphasizing the necessity for prayers.
He asserted that leaders are placed in their positions by God to make life meaningful for the people, and instead of confrontation, the solution lies in returning to God and seeking divine intervention.
Addressing the theme of the Mega Praise, “Dominion,” Adeboye stressed the importance of Nigeria having control over its affairs to avoid external influences dictating its course.
He expressed optimism about the uniqueness of Nigeria and encouraged Nigerians to take responsibility, stating, “every possibility of God is compelled by the responsibility of man.”
A key message conveyed was the call for recognition of the divine role in leadership. Adeboye discouraged fighting against the government and urged leaders to recognize the One who placed them in power.
He emphasized the church’s role in preaching righteousness and establishing integrity, believing that living out these principles would positively impact society.
Pastor Felix Adekunle Kumapayi, the Pastor-in-charge of Province, linked Nigeria’s economic situation to that of Israel, asserting that only God could rescue the nation from internal and external challenges hindering progress.
He specifically addressed Nigerian youths participating in the ‘Japa’ syndrome, urging them to discover their dominion before considering relocation.
Adding to the discourse, Pastor Oladele Balogun, the Special Assistant to the General Overseer in charge of Administration, admonished Nigerians to draw closer to God and cautioned against indulging in sins during the yuletide season.
As religious leaders unite in advising against confrontations and curses, the emphasis remains on prayer, responsibility, and a return to righteous living as essential steps toward positive change in the nation.
