Residents of Bargaja village in Isa Local Government Area of Sokoto State have fled their homes following relentless attacks by suspected bandits reportedly loyal to notorious bandit leader Bello Turji.
The mass movement of villagers, which occurred despite the ongoing observance of the Muslim fasting period of Ramadan, has forced several families to abandon their homes and relocate to neighbouring communities in search of safety.

A video circulating online and monitored by PLATFORM TIMES shows scores of residents leaving the village in groups, packing their belongings into vehicles as they evacuated the troubled community amid heightened fear of further attacks.
A security analyst, Bakatsine, who commented on the development, said the residents were fleeing due to persistent attacks by armed bandits.
He said the attacks, which he described as almost daily occurrences, had resulted in repeated killings and kidnappings in the area.
“Note that the residents are fleeing because almost on a daily basis armed bandits will attack their community, killing and kidnapping countless persons,” he said.
According to him, the video footage captured villagers moving out in large numbers, with families transporting their belongings as they abandoned the settlement.
The development has further heightened concerns over worsening insecurity in parts of north-west Nigeria, where bandit groups have continued to carry out attacks on rural communities.
Efforts to obtain an official reaction from the spokesperson of the Nigeria Police Force in the state proved unsuccessful, as the Police Public Relations Officer in Sokoto, Rufa’i Ahmed, could not be reached for comment as of the time of filing this report.
