Residents of Egbin, Ipakan, and Ijede communities in Lagos State have applauded Egbin Power Plc for its annual free medical outreach, describing the initiative as a lifesaving intervention that has continued to transform lives and promote healthy living among residents.
The 2025 edition, which marked the eighth in the series, saw hundreds of residents trooping out to benefit from the comprehensive health programme, which provided free medical consultations, drugs, medicated glasses, and health kits to participants.
Speaking during the exercise, Head of Corporate Communications and Branding, Egbin Power Plc, Mr. Felix Ofulue, said the medical outreach was designed to bridge the gap between quality healthcare and the people, particularly those in the company’s host communities.
“At Egbin Power, we believe that good health is essential to life. By providing access to healthcare, we are improving the productivity of individuals and ensuring the sustainability of society,” Ofulue stated.
“This programme aligns with Sustainable Development Goal 3 (SDG 3), which promotes good health and well-being for all. Every individual deserves the opportunity to thrive,” he added.
The outreach, organised in partnership with Ceccy Health, offered a wide range of medical services including eye care, diabetes and hypertension management, malaria treatment, dental check-ups, arthritis care, and blood pressure monitoring.
Beneficiaries also received free high-quality medications, medicated eyeglasses, glucometers, blood pressure machines, and wellness kits after thorough medical examinations.
Community leaders and residents lauded Egbin Power for sustaining the initiative and reaffirmed the company’s positive impact on the communities.
The Regent of Ijede, High Chief Aliu Musediq, commended the firm’s “unwavering commitment to the health and well-being of the people.”
“This outreach demonstrates the company’s dedication to improving our lives. The large turnout shows how much our people need quality healthcare, and we are grateful for this opportunity to access it free of charge,” he said.
Similarly, the Baale of Ipakan, High Chief Mustapha Lasisi, highlighted the long-term impact of the initiative, saying,
“Over the years, Egbin Power has brought succour to our people. Their efforts remind us of the importance of good health — without it, we cannot thrive.”
Several residents also shared personal testimonies of how the programme had improved their health and knowledge.
A retired civil servant, Mrs. Abosede Nofiu, said:“Egbin Power has shown genuine care. The free medical care has benefited me and many others. We feel healthier and better informed about how to take care of our health.”
Another beneficiary, Mrs. Ife Honfo, a local hairdresser, described the experience as “life-changing.”
“The doctors examined me thoroughly and explained everything clearly. I received free drugs and advice on how to maintain a healthy lifestyle. I feel more empowered now,” she said.
Residents who participated in the outreach returned home with smiles, expressing gratitude for the company’s continuous efforts to promote community health and development.
