The wife of retired Assistant Inspector-General of Police, Hakeem Odumosu, was abducted by four masked men on Thursday night in Arepo, Obafemi Owode Local Government Area of Ogun State.
The incident occurred around 9:55 pm when the victim was entering her residence. Reports indicate that the assailants forcefully dragged her out of her Lexus SUV and led her through a swampy area to an undisclosed location.
In response, the Ogun State Police Command confirmed the incident and launched an immediate investigation.
Omolola Odutola, the command’s spokesperson, revealed that the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Warewa division had visited the crime scene. Efforts are underway to involve community leaders in Warewa and Maaba, alongside local security personnel, to search the riverine area.
Lanre Ogunlowo, the Commissioner of Police in Ogun, has been briefed on the situation. Odutola assured that all necessary resources, including digital intelligence tools, are being deployed to rescue the victim.
“Further updates will be provided as investigations progress,” she said.
The abduction highlights growing concerns over insecurity in parts of Ogun State, with calls for improved community policing to curb criminal activities.
Residents of the area have expressed shock and called on law enforcement to intensify efforts to prevent future occurrences.
