Ekiti State Government says contractors handling road construction and rehabilitation projects across the state must keep to its ‘stone-based policy’.
This is just as the government ordered the contractors to ensure speedy completion of all projects, in line with scheduled dates attached to their letters of award.
The government, in the same vein warned against compromising regulated standards and quality.
State Commissioner for Information and Civic Orientation, Chief Taiwo Olatunbosun gave the charge during the weekend, saying the government would not accept jobs done without meeting up with the yearnings of the people, especially in terms of durability.
He spoke at the end of a media tour of projects embarked on by the Biodun Oyebanji-led administration, as well as those inherited from previous administrations.
According to him, it is the intention of the present government to turn most, if not all parts of the state to construction sites.
He told the newsmen, consisting of all heads of federal, state and privately owned media houses operating in Ekiti, that the Oyebanji administration intends to initiate long lasting projects that would stand the test of time.
The commmisser assured that the government would not relent in giving priority attention to social amenities, and facilities such as roads, hospitals, electricity, water provision and safe school environment, to make life meaningful to people across the state.
Also speaking, the Commissioner for Education, Mrs Adebimpe Aderiye said the administration was not focusing only on infrastructure, but also on human capital development and empowerment.
According to her, over 2,000 indigent students across the 16 local government areas of the state had benefitted from the state government’s conditional money transfer, which is meant to assist them in their education.
