Rotary clubs in Lagos and Ogun have handed over a borehole project completed at the Moshood Abiola Polytechnic (MAPOLY).
The project was initiated in November by the Rotary Club of Ikeja in collaboration with Rotary Club of Ikeja Alausa and eight Rotary clubs in Abeokuta.
Speaking during the handing over, the President elect, Rotary Club of Ikeja, Rotarian Emmanuel Elokwuihia highlighted the importance of water and the significance of the project.
He charged the school management saying “the essence is to provide water but ensure that the water is made available unabated. We expect continuous maintenance.”
“We will visit often,” he assured.

He said the Rotary clubs have brought smile to the polytechnic.
“This borehole will promote sanitation, to promote hygiene and prevent conflicts amongst market women due to scarcity of resources,” Odedeji added.
The project was inaugurated by the Alake and Paramount ruler of Egba land who is also a Rotarian, Oba Dr Adedotun Gbadebo represented by the Otun of Egba, Chief Rasheed Raji alongside the Onijale of Ijale Papa, Oba Michael Babalola in the presence of the school management team, Rotarians and representatives of the students.
The Student Union President of the institution, Hezakiah Babatunde said the water will help lots of students and hopes it will result in the reduction of food prices on campus.
Speaking on behalf of market woman, the Iyaloja of MAPOLY market, Mrs Adesanya appreciated the Rotarians and promised to put the water to good use.
