Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has been named the Grand Patron of the Bodex Social Media Hangout (BSMH) Initiative, a platform dedicated to promoting responsible media use and digital literacy among Nigerians.
The recognition came during a courtesy visit by the BSMH team, led by its Convener, Bodex Hungbo, to the Governor’s Office in Alausa, Ikeja, ahead of the sixth edition of the annual event tagged “Social Media and A.I Influence: Transforming Yourself, Services, and the Society.”
Hungbo commended Sanwo-Olu for his administration’s consistent support for media innovation, youth development, and digital inclusion in Lagos State.
She noted that the Governor’s embrace of technology and open style of governance had positioned Lagos as a trailblazer in Africa’s digital transformation drive.
“Governor Sanwo-Olu’s digital-forward policies and citizen engagement initiatives have made Lagos a model for responsible governance in the digital age,” Hungbo said.
“His commitment to youth empowerment and innovation has inspired many creators and digital entrepreneurs across the state.”
Responding, Governor Sanwo-Olu reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to nurturing creativity and responsible media engagement.
“Lagos remains the heartbeat of innovation and creativity in Nigeria,” the Governor said. “We will continue to support initiatives that amplify positive voices, shape narratives, and encourage responsible digital conduct.
“I commend the Bodex Social Media Hangout team for their role in bridging the gap between social media and societal progress.”
The visit also featured the formal invitation of Governor Sanwo-Olu to serve as keynote speaker at the grand finale of BSMH 6.0, where he is also billed to receive the award for “Most Digital Media Friendly Governor of the Year.”
The event, now in its sixth year, continues to serve as a convergence point for media professionals, content creators, policymakers, and digital advocates championing ethical media practices and social impact through technology.
With the conferment of the Grand Patron title, the Governor pledged to further support digital literacy and responsible online behavior, emphasizing that technology remains central to Lagos State’s development agenda.
