The Saudi Arabian authorities have approved the burial of the late Nigerian business magnate and philanthropist, Alhaji Aminu Alhassan Dantata, in the holy city of Madina.

Dantata, who passed away on Friday night in Abu Dhabi at the age of 94 after a brief illness, will be laid to rest next to his late wife, Hajiya Rabi’a Dantata, who died in 2023, in accordance with his final wish.

The Private Principal Secretary to the late billionaire, Alhaji Mustapha Abdullahi Junaidu, confirmed the development in a Facebook post on Sunday.

“Alhamdulillah, I have received approval to take Aminu Alhassan Dantata from Abu Dhabi to Madina. He will be buried tomorrow morning by the grace of Allah,” Junaidu wrote.

Before the burial, a special Islamic funeral prayer, Salatul Ga’ib, was observed in Kano on Saturday.

The prayer, conducted in absentia, drew hundreds of mourners, including top political figures such as the Deputy Senate President, Senator Barau Jibrin, and other dignitaries from across the country.

Alhaji Aminu Dantata, a scion of the Dantata family dynasty, was widely respected for his business acumen, philanthropy, and significant contributions to Nigeria’s economic development, especially in commerce and industry.

His passing marks the end of an era for one of the country’s most influential business families.
