In a remarkable celebration of moral integrity and cultural values, the Seventh-Day Adventist (SDA) Church in the Wenchi West District of the Mid-West Ghana Conference, Bono Region, honored 20 young girls for maintaining their virginity.
The event, held during a special Thanksgiving service over the weekend, highlighted the church’s commitment to nurturing young women with strong moral and Christian principles.
The ceremony, organized by the Young Adventist Women Ministries, included financial rewards for the honorees as encouragement.
According to the group’s coordinator, Mrs. Nana Amponsah Poku, the initiative underscores the holistic development of young women by fostering self-confidence and sound decision-making.
“God created you uniquely beautiful, and you must not allow anybody to lure and break your virginity until you marry,” Mrs. Poku advised the girls. She further urged them to be mindful of their friendships in 2025.
Drawing from cultural traditions, Mrs. Poku noted that ancient rites like Bragoro or Dipo were instrumental in preserving girls’ virginity and curbing teenage pregnancies.
She encouraged a revival of these values to support young women’s growth and development.
Associate Pastor Andrews Dua Bour Kyereh commended the honorees for their discipline and purity, urging them to prioritize education and faith.
He also encouraged other girls within the church and the broader community to emulate their example.
Pastor Kyereh called on parents to play active roles in guiding their children toward virtuous living and instilling strong moral foundations.
