The Senate firmly refutes recent speculations circulating in certain media outlets concerning alleged intentions by certain Senators to impeach Senate President Godswill Akpabio.

In a statement issued in Abuja, Yemi Adaramodu, the Chairman of the Senate Committee on Media and Publicity, categorically dismissed these rumors.

Adaramodu stated, “Our attention has been drawn to a syndicated narrative in a section of the media, suggesting fabricated and unfounded plans for a leadership change in the Senate.”

He continued, “The Nigerian Senate is a cohesive and harmonious body, and these imaginative claims exist solely in the realm of fiction and misinformation. Such claims are akin to the debunked story of legislators receiving 100 million each.”

“It is worth noting that, under the capable leadership of Senator Godswill Akpabio, the 10th Senate has diligently fulfilled its legislative and constitutional responsibilities.”

“In less than 60 legislative days, the Senate has successfully passed bills and motions that enhance the quality of life. It has also conducted vital duties such as screening and confirming Service Chiefs and Ministers, alongside crucial oversight functions.”

Adaramodu concluded by urging those external forces seeking to sow discord through media sensationalism to exercise restraint.

“The Senate requires a peaceful environment to fulfill its national duties, ensuring that the Nigerian project continues to progress.
