Nigerian troops have recovered six anti-aircraft guns, four AK-47 rifles and others from terrorists during a gun-battle at Ukuba, Sambisa Forest on Saturday.

Also recovered are: several quantities of IEDs making materials, a cache of magazines, and a Hilux vehicle mounted with an Anti Aircraft Gun.

Troops of ‘Operation Desert Sanity II’, ‘Operation Hadin Kai’ achieved the feat in the battle against Boko Haram terrorists.

Intelligence sources told Zagazola Makama, a Counter-Insurgency Expert and Security Analyst in the Lake Chad region that the feats were recorded after the troops of 21-Armored Brigade, Bama, Operation Hadin Kai (OPHK) and 199 Special Forces Battalion in collaboration with Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF), intercepted the terrorists while on aggressive fighting patrol.

This led to a heavy gun-battle with the terrorists, forcing them to abandon their vehicle, weapons and several IEDs materials with some arms to be used against troops.

The source said that so far the fighting troops had successfully cleared the terrorists hideouts in Garno, Alafa, Alafa D, Garin Doctor, Njumia, Izzah, Farisu, Somalia, Ukuba, Garin Glucose, Garin Ba’aba, Bula Abu Amir, communities in Bama Local Government Area in Borno state.

This latest success underscores the continuing efforts of the Nigerian military to neutralize the Boko Haram threat and restore peace and stability to the region.
