The Ogun State Community, Social Orientation and Safety Corps (So-Safe Corps) has apprehended three suspects involved in purchasing stolen transformer armoured cables valued at ₦9.8 million.
This operation took place in OPIC Estate, Agbara, Ado-Odo/Ota local governent area of Ogun State.
The State Commander, Commander (Dr) Soji Ganzallo, disclosed this development in a statement released through the Director of Information and Public Relations, Assistant Commander Moruf Yusuf.
The statement added that the suspects, identified as Mansirina Usman (27), Janadu Ahyarn (20), and Husseni Abdullahi (20), were apprehended on June 27, 2024, at approximately 7:13 PM.
The statement read further that the Corps’ surveillance team acted swiftly on a tip-off about the sale of stolen cables in the area.
The statement added that the surveillance efforts paid off when it was confirmed that the cables, worth ₦9.8 million, had been vandalised and stolen by unknown thieves.
It stated that the team was tasked with the mission to capture the culprits within 48 hours, the Area Commander, Assistant Commander Adeosun Adeniyi, and his team moved swiftly.
“ The suspects, upon arrest, admitted to purchasing the stolen cables from individuals identified as Mustapha and Minister, who remain at large.
“Usman confessed to buying 30kg of cable for ₦300,000, Ahyarn purchased 25kg for ₦250,000, and Abdullahi acquired 20kg for ₦200,000.
“In addition to the stolen cables, the suspects were found with four off-cut armored cables, ₦18,850 in cash, three Android phones, two wristwatches, and two unmarked TVS motorcycles.
“Following their arrest, the suspects and the recovered items were transferred to the Nigeria Police Force, Agbara Divisional Headquarters for further investigation and possible prosecution.
“Commander Ganzallo commended the surveillance team for their rapid response and effectiveness. He reaffirmed the Corps’ unwavering dedication to fighting criminal activities in Ogun State, ensuring the safety and security of its residents.”
