In a shocking incident at the bustling Arakale Market in Akure, Ondo State, a trader met his untimely demise at the hands of a yet-to-be-identified soldier.

The altercation, believed to have stemmed from a dispute over services rendered, escalated into a fatal stabbing on Saturday.

According to reports, tensions flared when the soldier demanded a refund for what he deemed unsatisfactory service from the deceased trader.

Eyewitnesses revealed that the disagreement quickly escalated, leading to a violent confrontation resulting in the trader being fatally stabbed.

The tragic event incited outrage among the deceased trader’s colleagues, prompting a protest within the market premises.

Agitated traders took to barricading the Arakale Road, disrupting vehicular movement until law enforcement officers intervened to restore order.

Confirming the incident, Mrs. Funmilayo Odunlami, the spokesperson for the Ondo State Police Command, stated that efforts were underway to apprehend the erring soldier.

Collaborative efforts between the police and the Nigerian Army have been initiated to identify and apprehend the perpetrator(s) responsible for the heinous act.

Odunlami affirmed, “Yes, the police can confirm the stabbing of a young man by a soldier.

The command is in touch with the military authority so that the culprit(s) can be identified and arrested.”
