South-East Governors held a marathon meeting with former President Olusegun Obasanjo,on Tuesday, discussing the pressing issue of the release of  Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).

PLATFORM TIMES gathered that Obasanjo, along with Chief Emeka Anyaoku and His Royal Majesty Igwe Alfred Nnaemeka Achebe, led a delegation to meet the governors on solidarity visit to the regional leaders.

After over seven hours of intense deliberation, the South-East Governors addressed the media, highlighting the outcomes of the meeting.

Senator Hope Uzodinma, the Chairman of the South-East Governors Forum and Governor of Imo State,  said “the Forum received a delegation of the former President, Olusegun Obasanjo, Chief Emeka Anyaoku, and His Royal Majesty Igwe Alfred Nnaemeka Achebe, who came on a solidarity visit to this Forum.”

He said during the meeting, he and other governors in the region  reviewed the report from the South-East security and economic summit held in Owerri, Imo State, on September 28, 2023.

He disclosed that they agreed to implement aspects of the report focusing on security and economic integration within the South-East region, affirming their commitment to actionable plans on key issues.

In a move reflecting the urgency of regional concerns, he said the forum resolved to visit the President to discuss pressing matters affecting the South-East.

According to him, a major resolution was to interface with the Federal Government to secure the release of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu.
