The South West Zone of the Athletics Federation of Nigeria (AFN) is set to host the 2024 South West Athletics Conference (SWAC), tagged “Abeokuta SWAC 2024”.
Scheduled to take place from July 3rd to 6th, 2024, the conference promises to be the biggest athletics gathering in the South West region of Nigeria.
Biodun Alabi, Media Coordinator for the South West Athletics Conference,disclosed this in a statement issued on Saturday .
Alabi said the event will feature Professor Tunde Makanju as the keynote speaker.
He explained that professor Makanju, a distinguished scholar, will be joined by several lead speakers who will contribute their expertise to the discussions.
While explaining, he said special guests at the conference include Chief Segun Odegbami, former captain of the Super Eagles; Chief Bukola Olopade, founder of Nilayo Sports Management; and Mr. Tunde Popoola, Secretary General of the Nigeria Olympic Committee (NOC), among other notable personalities.
According to him, distinguished Ranking Senator Olamilekan Adeola, representing Yewa Senatorial District of Ogun State, will serve as the Conference Chairman.
“The Executive Governor of Ogun State, His Excellency Prince Dapo Abiodun CFR, will be the Chief Host and Special Guest of Honour.
“His presence underscores the significance of this event in promoting athletics in the region.
He emphasised the importance of this event in a press release.
“Abeokuta SWAC 2024 is not just an athletics conference; it is a platform for fostering sports development and uniting stakeholders in the athletics community across the South West region of Nigeria,” he stated
