Speakers have asked the federal government to revitalise nomadic education in Nigeria, pioneered by Professor Mary Lar.

The call was made yesterday at the reception ceremony in celebration of Prof Lar’s 90th birthday in Jos in Plateau State, where she was commended for driving the initiative for nomadic communities who migrate from one place to the other due to pastoral practices.

The birthday of Prof Lar, who is the wife of the first civilian governor of Plateau State and pioneer National President of the People’s Democrats Party (PDP), Late Chief Solomon Lar, and a former Nigerian Ambassador to the Netherlands, was also marked with the presentation of her book titled “Life with my Best Friend.”

The various speakers urged the government to do all it takes to revitalise the nomadic education programme, saying it has tremendously contributed to boosting the education system generally.

Speaking, the Plateau State governor, Caleb Mutfwang, represented by the Deputy Governor, Josephine Piyo, said Mrs. Lar was a result-oriented educationist who has achieved a lot not only for herself but for the country at large.
