His Eminence Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar III, the Sultan of Sokoto, delivered a powerful message on the strength of diversity and unity as he inaugurated the 10.2km Glory Drive dual carriageway project in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State.

The project, initiated by Governor Douye Diri’s administration, represents not just a road but an iconic and historical milestone.

In his address, the Sultan urged leaders not to force themselves onto the people, emphasizing that power comes from God and can be taken away without notice.

He stressed the importance of supporting leaders who do right by their communities and holding them accountable when they err.

“The unity of Nigeria is our collective strength,” the Sultan stated. “We are all part of one big family, different tribes, but together as one. When leaders do right, their actions speak for them, and Governor Douye Diri is doing the right thing.”

He called upon the people of Bayelsa to continue supporting their leaders, praying for their success, and correcting them when necessary. “A leader must consult before making decisions,” he added.

Governor Douye Diri, welcoming the Sultan, emphasized his commitment to non-partisan development, highlighting the completion of the road project that had been initiated during former President Goodluck Jonathan’s administration but left unfinished until he assumed office in 2020.

The Sultan’s visit and the road project underscore the importance of unity and progress in Bayelsa State, with a promise of continued collaboration for peace and development.
