Sunday Igboho Warns Against Herder Lawlessness

Renowned Yoruba nation activist, Sunday Adeyemo, popularly known as Sunday Igboho, issued a resolute statement on Sunday, affirming that President Bola Tinubu would not tolerate the lawlessness that resulted in herders killing farmers during the immediate past administration of former President Muhammadu Buhari.

Igboho strongly cautioned herders against contemplating further attacks on farmers in the Southwest, responding to comments made by the national president of Miyetti Allah Kautal Hore, Abdullahi Bello Bodejo, who dismissed Igboho’s recent quit notice to Fulani herders to vacate the Southwest.

In October, Igboho had given Fulani herders a seven-day ultimatum to leave the Southwest, and in his latest reaction, he labeled Bodejo as a “mere attention seeker.”

Igboho emphasized that Nigeria’s Constitution does not support mindless killings, rape, and destruction of farmlands.

In a signed statement, Igboho stressed the urgency of halting alleged killer Fulani herders from reigniting tension and insecurity in any part of Nigeria, especially in Yorubaland’s agrarian communities and settlements, through concerted efforts by security agencies.

He pointedly declared that the acts of lawlessness witnessed under former President Muhammadu Buhari would not be allowed to persist under the immediate incumbent President Bola Tinubu.

Igboho criticized Bodejo for seeking undue recognition through an unjustifiable position on the carnage caused by fellow Fulani herders, resulting in untold hardship for farmers in both the North and, more prominently, the South.

Igboho urged Miyetti Allah to abandon thoughts of unprovoked attacks on farmers, particularly in the South West, where numerous innocent lives have been lost.

He assured that relevant security agencies and the people would not allow herders to compound the challenges faced by the common man.

The statement reflects Igboho’s commitment to addressing the escalating tensions and aligns firmly with President Tinubu’s resolve to curb herder-related lawlessness in the region.
