The Ogun State chapter of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) has applauded Governor Dapo Abiodun for establishing a world-class Media Centre for the ongoing National Sports Festival in Abeokuta, the state capital.
Speaking with journalists, Chairman of SWAN in Ogun State, Mr Michael-Azeez Ogunsiji, described the facility as a major boost to effective media coverage of the event, commending the government for putting in place modern equipment and amenities.
Ogunsiji noted that the strategic location of the centre, coupled with uninterrupted power supply, multiple television screens, and high-speed internet connectivity, had made the working environment seamless and conducive for journalists covering the games.
“Every journalist in this arena is very happy with the way this Media Centre is being set up with necessary gadgets for seamless coverage; the location is the first motivation for us. It is strategic,” he said.
The SWAN chairman also lauded the Governor for what he termed a “top-notch” Opening Ceremony on Sunday, describing it as a reflection of Abiodun’s commitment to excellence and Ogun State’s tradition of setting the pace.
“The glamour and impressive outing of the Opening Ceremony had indeed signaled the successful outcome of the festival and another significant accomplishment for the Governor Abiodun-led administration,” he added.
The National Sports Festival, Nigeria’s premier multi-sport event, continues in full swing with athletes from across the country competing in various disciplines.
