Abdulazeez Adegbola, popularly known as Tani Olohun, has publicly expressed remorse for his alleged actions of burning the Quran and defaming Muslim figures in Kwara State.

Following his bail hearing, he apologized to the court, stating, “I didn’t know that burning the Quran is an offence.”

Despite facing multiple legal proceedings, Adegbola secured release on bail and vowed never to repeat such actions, emphasizing his commitment to refrain from posting negative videos on social media.

The traditionalist’s plea for forgiveness comes after two separate cases were filed against him, and he has been in custody for 91 days.

Despite facing legal battles, Magistrate A.S Adam granted Adegbola bail, allowing him to secure release from four cases in three different courts, addressing charges related to defamation and Quran burning.

Previously arraigned for allegedly insulting Ilorin elders, Adegbola faced the Upper Area Court based on a complaint by Alfa Okutagidi.

Tani Olohun, who had spent 91 days in custody, pleaded for forgiveness during his bail application, emphasizing his commitment to avoiding negative social media posts.

Speaking in Yoruba, he sought forgiveness from Islamic scholars and the global Muslim community, expressing his lack of awareness regarding the gravity of Quran burning as an offense.

His lawyer, Ademola Bank, successfully secured bail in the sum of N2m and three sureties, with Magistrate A.S. Adams specified conditions, including a community leader as one surety and another owning landed property within the jurisdiction or Oyo State.

While the counsel for the complainants did not oppose the bail application, Tani Olohun’s lawyer acknowledged the challenges of meeting the specified bail conditions.

As the traditionalist navigates legal complexities, the controversy surrounding allegations of defamation in Ilorin, Kwara State, continues to unfold.
