The Taraba State Government, through the Ministry of Women Affairs and Child Development, has expressed strong disapproval over the alleged inhuman treatment recently inflicted on a young boy, Musa Alhassan, by his local teacher.

The accused teacher, Ahmadu Hassan, residing in the Saurara area of Jalingo, the state capital, allegedly inflicted various degrees of injuries on the boy, a situation which, as observed by Daily Post, has continued to stir public outrage.

In a press statement made available to journalists on Friday in Jalingo, the Ministry condemned the act and promised to take legitimate steps to seek justice for the victim.

The statement, signed by the Commissioner of Women Affairs and Child Development, Mary Sinjen, described the act as a gross violation of human rights and emphasized that such violence against a child would not be tolerated.

The statement also confirmed that the victim is currently receiving medical care in Jalingo, with the state government fully committed to ensuring his well-being. “His recovery is a priority for us, and we are closely monitoring his progress,” the commissioner said.

She added that “Ahmadu Hassan, the perpetrator of the abuse, has been handed over to law enforcement authorities and remains in custody.”

Reaffirming the government’s determination to see that justice is served without delay or leniency, the commissioner stated that the perpetrator will face the full extent of the law.

“Under the leadership of Governor Dr. Agbu Kefas, the government, in collaboration with the Ministry of Women Affairs and Child Development, security agencies, and other stakeholders, remains resolute in its mission to protect children’s rights,” she stated.

She further emphasised that the administration will continue to fight for a future where every child in Taraba State is safe, respected, and empowered to thrive.
