Teen Mum Delivers Triplets, Ogun Govt Steps In After Father Flees

The Ogun State Government has stepped in to rescue a teenage mother, Temilola Adediran, who recently gave birth to a set of triplets at the Sacred Heart Hospital, Lantoro, Abeokuta, after her partner allegedly fled upon hearing the news.

Temilola, who was reportedly preparing for her Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination (SSCE) when she became pregnant, delivered the triplets naturally, without undergoing a Caesarean Section.

However, she was left stranded after the father of the children, identified as Mr. Adeniran, absconded, leaving her unable to settle the medical bills.

Responding to a public call for assistance on Thursday, the Ogun State Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, Hon. Motunrayo Adijat Adeleye, led a government delegation to the hospital to assess the situation and provide immediate support.

“In response to the public appeal, I led our team, including the Permanent Secretary, Mrs. Jumoke Adewole, to visit Sacred Heart Hospital to ensure the wellbeing of the young mother and her babies,” Adeleye told newsmen after the visit.

She disclosed that Governor Dapo Abiodun had personally extended a cash gift to the triplets and offset the outstanding hospital bills.

Other mothers in the maternity ward also received financial gifts and welfare support from the ministry.

PLATFORM TIMES obtained a video showing the commissioner announcing  cash gifts to mothers across the ward during the visit.

“We deeply appreciate the professionalism and care shown by the hospital’s management and medical team, led by Dr. Arifalo Olawole,” Adeleye said.

“To the mother of the triplets, we offer not just congratulations but a promise of long-term support, including sustainable empowerment programs to help her rebuild her life.”

Sources at the hospital confirmed that the triplets are currently being kept in an incubator and may remain under medical care for about a month before discharge.

The state government has pledged continued follow-up through its social welfare structures to ensure the mother and her children receive the necessary care and empowerment.
