A 15-year-old boy, whose identity remains undisclosed, has accidentally shot and killed his uncle while playing with his grandfather’s loaded gun.

PLATFORM TIMES gathered that the sad incident occured  in Ogbotobo community, Ekeremor Local Government Area of Bayelsa State.

Sources close to the family revealed that the teenager, known for recreating scenes from movies with the firearm, was unaware that the gun was loaded when he pulled the trigger, leading to the tragic outcome.

PLATFORM TIMES further gathered that the unfortunate event occured  March 6 when the grandfather, Mr. Jamaica Konbofawei, loaded the gun around 3 am in response to unusual movements from bush animals near their fishing camp.

It was further gathered that  despite his efforts, the elusive animals managed to escape before he could take any action.

The sources said that, on his return home, Konbofawei inadvertently left the cartridge in the gun, placing it in its usual storage location.

The sources added tbat the  following Thursday morning, the unsuspecting teenager seized the firearm, pointing it at his uncle, who, in an attempt to caution him, instructed to drop it while he prepared food.

The sources hinted that  as the boy fiddled with the gun, still pointed at his uncle, he accidentally pulled the trigger, resulting in the instantaneous death of his relative.

The sources said that the  sound of the gunshot attracted nearby residents, who discovered the distraught boy mourning over the lifeless body of his uncle.

A family source confirmed that the incident has been reported to the police.
