Teenager Petitions Police Over Death Threats By Reformed Ogboni Confraternity

A teenager, Phillip Jacob Seyi, has petitioned the police over alleged death threats by members of the Reformed Ogboni Confraternity.

According to Phillip, the group has been pressuring him to take his father’s place within the organization, but he has refused, citing his awareness of the group’s alleged sinister practices.

“They said that I have to take my father’s position because I know all their activities, but I refused to join them. Since then, they have been threatening my life,” Phillip recounted.

Phillip alleged that the group had been threatening his life and that of his family and has destroyed goods in his father’s shop.

He claimed that the group has been monitoring his movements and has threatened to kill him and his family if he does not comply with their demands.

Phillip expressed frustration that despite his multiple reports to the police, no action has been taken to ensure his safety. “Knowing their activities and what they’re capable of doing in our society today, I have to petition the DPO and the area command in Eleyele Police Division for doing nothing about my several reports,” he said.

Phillip also warned the public about the group’s activities, stating, “I also want to tell the general public that if anything happens to me or my family, they know the people to be held responsible.”

The teenager has petitioned the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) and Area Command of Eleyele Police Division, seeking protection and intervention. “I just want to live in peace with my family. I am begging the authorities to intervene before it’s too late,” Phillip pleaded.

The Reformed Ogboni Confraternity has been associated with illicit activities such as ritual killings, extortion, and intimidation. Human rights activists have called for increased scrutiny of the group’s influence and operations.

The Ibadan State Police Command has been contacted for comment regarding Phillip’s petition, but no response has been received at the time of filing this report.

The incident has sparked fears about the safety of residents in Ibadan, particularly those who have refused to join the group. Phillip’s family has been living in fear, and the teenager has pleaded with the authorities to intervene before it’s too late.

The police have been urged to take immediate action to ensure Phillip’s safety and investigate the allegations against the Reformed Ogboni Confraternity.
