In a recent social media exchange, Reno Omokri, a prominent Nigerian author and influential figure, has taken issue with Pastor Enoch Adeboye, the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), regarding his prayers for Israel amidst the ongoing Israel-Hamas conflict.

Omokri, a former aide to ex-President Goodluck Jonathan, accused Pastor Adeboye of favoritism, arguing that the plight of Palestinian Christians should not be overlooked in this crisis.

He emphasized that Jesus Christ’s teachings call for love toward enemies and prayer for those who persecute.

Furthermore, Omokri questioned the biblical foundation for supporting Israel, citing verses that emphasize God’s impartiality.

He stressed that God’s love extends to both Israel and Palestine, urging Christians to remain neutral in political conflicts unrelated to their faith.

Having personally witnessed the suffering in Palestine, Omokri appealed to Pastor Adeboye to extend love and prayers to both sides and provide non-military support to alleviate human suffering.

These strong comments were conveyed through a series of tweets on Omokri’s Twitter handle, where he boasts a substantial following of over 1.2 million.

Omokri’s message to Pastor Adeboye emphasized the large Christian population in Palestine and quoted Galatians 6:10, which encourages prioritizing love for fellow believers.

In response to Adeboye’s prayers for Jerusalem’s peace, Omokri challenged the potential partiality of the act and expressed concern for the despair it might instill in Palestinians.

He further highlighted Acts 10:34, stating that God shows no partiality.

In a YouTube video on his channel, Omokri expounded on his views and issued a challenge for a debate on this issue to Pastor Adeboye.

On the other hand, Pastor Adeboye had previously prayed for the peace of Jerusalem and shared his blessings for Israel through his Twitter handle, which commands a massive following of 3.4 million.

He also offered prayers and blessings for Israel on his YouTube channel.

The Israel-Hamas conflict has escalated in recent days, resulting in widespread violence and casualties, primarily among civilians.

The United Nations has called for an immediate ceasefire and diplomatic efforts to resolve the crisis.
