The Ogun State Police Command has heightened security at the Sagamu Interchange, leading to the arrest of three suspects and the dismantling of illegal activities in the area.

Following recent concerns over security at the interchange, the Commissioner of Police, CP Lanre Ogunlowo, led an extensive operation to assess and reinforce safety measures.

PLATFORM TIMES reports that the move comes amid reports circulating on social media regarding a security incident on March 21, 2025, though no formal complaints were lodged at any police station.

The Police Public Relations Officer in the State, Omolola Odutola in a statement said CP Ogunlowo and his team during a two-hour assessment, uncovered a criminal hideout in a bush near the interchange, resulting in the arrest of three suspects.

She added that the operation revealed illegal trading activities and the presence of touts under the interchange bridge.

Odutola stated that the Commissioner promptly ordered the immediate disbandment of these unauthorized businesses.

She said to fortify security at the interchange, personnel from the Quick Response Squad, OP Mesa, and Mobile Police Squadrons 71 have been strategically deployed at key points, including under the bridge, roundabouts, and both inward and outward routes of the four intersections.

CP Ogunlowo has also engaged members of the transport union to redirect traffic towards well-lit and more secure areas, ensuring commuter safety. He urged residents to remain vigilant and avoid potential security threats.

“Ogun State remains relatively peaceful, and we are committed to maintaining law and order. With increased security presence and the collaborative efforts of sister security agencies, citizens can rest assured of their safety on our highways,” he stated.

As a precautionary measure, commuters are advised to plan their travels early to minimize security risks.

The Ogun State Police Command reassured the public of its dedication to curbing criminal activities, with support from the state government and security agencies.

Odutola, reiterated the command’s commitment to sustaining the enhanced security efforts at the interchange and other critical locations across the state.
