Reports reaching PLATFORMTIMES have it that political thugs have disrupted the electoral process at Ward 13 polling Unit 22, Itori Odo in the Abeokuta South area of Ogun state.
The incident saw journalists and electoral officers fleeing for safety as they were chased by the attackers, who brandished axes.
An unarmed NSCDC officer who attempted to rescue the two ballot boxes was overpowered by the thugs, who snatched the boxes and destroyed them immediately.
PLATFORM TIMES gathered that a son of the community, Oluseyi Funmi, is also contesting for State House Assembly under the umbrella of Action Alliance.
The altercation began when an agent of the All Progressive Congress (APC) questioned journalists taking pictures at the unit.
Despite efforts to convince them, the agent insisted they were instructed not to allow anyone to take pictures or record videos at the unit, otherwise.
One of the thugs, identified only as Taiwo, attacked an agent of the Action Democratic Congress (ADC) who attempted to intervene.
Eye witness said Taiwo poured dry gin on the face of the ADC agent before other thugs emerged from different corners with axes and attacked the INEC officials and materials.
Reports have it that APC has never won the unit but PDP.
