A Muslim group, TIjaniyah of Yorubaland, Edo & Delta states, has organized a special prayer for the president of Nigeria, Bola Tinubu, urging  him to quickly tackle economic crisis in the country.

The event, which held in Abeokuta, Ogun State capital, on Tuesday, had many clerics in attendance.

Speaking on the theme, “next level for Nigeria to develop, rededicate and sustain her prosperity”, Prof Sherifdeen Tella lamented the bad state of the country’s economy.

Prof Tella, who is a lecturer at the Olabisi Onabanjo University, OOU, Ago-Iwoye,  highlighted issues that  needed the federal government’s attention.

According to him, the foremost sector to be addressed in the country is the education sector, as he lamented that the illiteracy level in the country is 50/50 percent.

He said, “focusing on the education sector can help fight our economic crisis. For example, China, when it had nothing, chose only two sectors to focus on, which are Agric and Education.”

According to him, China sent her lecturers and teachers abroad to learn more, giving them facilities, and focused on feeding her citizens at home.

“Years later, the lecturers and teachers went back, though not all of them, and they developed their country, which made all of us wanting to go there.”

He added that China would be the leading economic country in the world, beating the United States of America in 2050.

Among other issues he mentioned were; corruption, lack of patriotism on leadership, promotion of ethnicity, and Insecurity.

He therefore urged the government  to face the  issues squarely to adequately fight the economic crisis in the country.

Speaking also, the Chief Host of the event and Grand Caliph Of Yorubaland, Edo & Delta  States, Sheikh Salis Alao Adenekan, said the country needs social value rejuvenation.

He also mentioned that many people suffer for money in the country, despite having enough money in the country.

Addressing strikes that had happened in the past, he urged the FG to adjust the “30 days make one pay salary” system.

He said, “the nation’s economy is popular for money, but people suffer about money, Money is popular here but industrial strikes are also peculiar here.

“However, we need to reconsider our thirty (30) days make one pay salary syndrome and deliberate on the economic possibility of bi-monthly salary in both public and private sectors of Nigeria.”

He therefore urged FG to adopt Bimonthly salary, adding that it “will lead to self-sufficiency among patriotic Nigerian’s, and boost people’s integrity on service delivery in the interest of the country and her image.”
