President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has issued a directive to major cement companies, including Dangote and BUA, to revert to previous price levels, as confirmed by Minister of Works, Senator David Umahi, during his visit to BUA cement factory in Sokoto.

Umahi emphasized the importance of the directive in achieving the government’s massive housing program and the commitment to concrete roads.

He encouraged manufacturers to abide by the president’s order for the benefit of these national projects.

During the visit, Umahi applauded BUA for completing its 5th production line.

He praised the company’s commitment to cleanliness on its premises and acknowledged the company’s chairman’s assurance to President Tinubu regarding the commencement of operations on the 5th line.

Accompanied by Senate committee chairman on housing, Senator Aminu Tambuwal, the minister highlighted the government’s ambitious plan to construct a 372-kilometer dual carriage way from Zaria to Sokoto.

The first phase will use asphalt, while the second phase, constituting 372 kilometers, will employ pure concrete, aligning with the renewed hope agenda.

Senator Tambuwal commended BUA for meeting expectations in its responsibilities, urging the company to not only enhance production capacity but also ensure the affordability of its products to support the administration’s housing for all initiative.

Managing Director of BUA, Engineer Yusuf Binji, assured that the fifth production line would significantly boost cement production, subsequently lowering market prices.

This move aligns with the company’s commitment to contributing to national development objectives.

This directive from President Tinubu marks a significant step in balancing economic interests with national development goals, particularly in the crucial sectors of housing and infrastructure.
