The Federal Government, under the leadership of President Bola Tinubu, has distributed 5,000 packages of palliatives to various regions across Nigeria.

The distribution, spearheaded by Sheikh Iskeel Muhammadu Awwal, Wakeelu Muslimeen of Yorubaland, Edo, and Delta states, and consultant to the  Ogun state governor on Islamic Affairs, has been met with appreciation and gratitude from communities in need.

Sheikh Iskeel Muhammadu Awwal, who also serves as the Chairman of the committee overseeing the distribution of palliatives from Abuja, expressed gratitude for the support received from the Federal Government. He highlighted the importance of this gesture in providing relief to those facing hardships.

According to him, the palliatives, totaling 5,000 packs, were transported in five trailers to Ogun State, where they were then distributed to various communities.

He explained that  divisions such as Ijebu, Yewa, Remo, and Egba received specific allocations, with 1,000 packs going to Ijebu, 800 to Yewa, 500 to Remo, and 1,000 to Egba.

He added that  1,200 packs were distributed to other Islamic societies in the state.

Recognizing the diverse needs within the community, the distribution also extended to professional bodies such as doctors and media practitioners who are Muslims.

Sheikh Iskeel Muhammadu Awwal extended appreciation to Senator Yari, former Governor of Zamfara, who he said sponsored the initiative, as well as Chairman,  Southwest Muslim senators,  Shuaibu Salis, for their support.

He specifically acknowledged their efforts in sponsoring transportation fares to ensure the smooth delivery of palliatives across the Southwest states.

In reassurance to the Nigerian populace, Sheikh  Awwal expressed optimism that the distribution of these palliatives would ease the burden faced by many in the coming month.
