President, Bola Tinubu, on Thursday, formally wrote to the National Assembly to notify them about the appointment of the new Chief of Defence Staff and Service Chiefs.
PLATFORM TIMES gather that, the President made the appointments of the Service Chiefs during the Sallah holiday, while the National Assembly was on break.
Tinubu in a letter addressed to the Speaker and read at Plenary, urged the lawmakers to consider speedy confirmation of the Service Chiefs and the Chief of Defence Staff in accordance with existing laws.
The nominated service chiefs awaiting confirmation are: Major General C.G. Musa as the Chief of Defence Staff, Major T.A. Lagbaja as the Chief of Army Staff, Rear Admiral E.A. Ogalla as the Chief of Naval Staff, and Air Vice Marshal H.B. Abubakar as the Chief of Air Staff.
In the letter, the President cited compliance with Section 18(1) of the Armed Forces Act, Cap A20 Laws of the Federation of Nigeria 2004, as the basis for the request.
