In a remarkable celebration of its 30th anniversary, The Muslim Congress (TMC) in Ogun State has embarked on a mission to prioritize community health and well-being.

To kick off the festivities, the organization launched a free medical caravan in Ogere, situated within the Ikenne Local Government area of Ogun State.

A dedicated team of medical professionals, including doctors, nurses, and medical laboratory experts from prestigious institutions like the Olabisi Onabanjo University Teaching Hospital (OOUTH) in Sagamu and the Accurate Medical Diagnosis Centre in Abeokuta, came together to offer complimentary consultations, medical tests, and essential medications to more than 60 residents.

Dr. Raji Faruq, a medical practitioner from OOUTH, highlighted the pressing issues of hepatitis and high blood pressure in the state, underlining the significance of proactive health measures.

He praised TMC for its community-centric initiative and encouraged other organizations to follow suit, emphasizing the importance of health awareness.

“We conducted screenings for hypertension, hepatitis, and diabetes, along with urinalysis. Based on the screening results, we provided necessary medications to those in need,” explained Dr. Faruq.

Beyond the healthcare outreach, TMC’s 30th-anniversary celebration featured its annual State Congress, held under the theme “Impacts, Challenges, and Repositioning for Greater Values.”

Barrister Abdul Rafiu Baruwa, the former chairman of Ijebu Ode Local Government, delivered a captivating lecture that traced the organization’s history, growth, and challenges in Ogun State over the past three decades.

He called upon stakeholders to devise strategic plans, leverage their professional expertise, and renew their commitment to enhancing TMC’s presence in the state.

The event witnessed the presence of notable TMC figures, including Dr. AbdurRazaq Ogunmoye, the Ogun State Wali of TMC, Associate Professor Ibrahim Ogunkoya, the immediate past Wali, and members of the State and Local Government executives.

Dr. Jamiu Rowaiye, the chairman of the organizing committee for TMC’s 30th Anniversary, unveiled a diverse array of upcoming activities, encompassing courtesy visits, trips to orphanages, correctional facilities, and hospitals, as well as public awareness campaigns aimed at educating youth about substance abuse and human trafficking.

The grand culmination of these celebratory events will occur during an Independence lecture at the Hubert Ogunde Hall of the June 12 Cultural Centre in Abeokuta on Monday, October 2nd.

The lecture, titled “Towards National Stability, Growth, and Prosperity,” will be presented by esteemed speakers Sheikh Imran Eleha and Sheikh Dhikirullah Shafi.

The event will also unveil the winners of the Quran competition, officially marking the conclusion of TMC’s 30th-anniversary festivities.
