The Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Agency Commander at Oke- Odan, Idi-Iroko axis, Egbeolowo Mustapha has urged drivers in the state to always use their windshield wipers to aid proper view while driving.

The commander made this call on Friday, in a radio programme, urging drivers to prepare ahead of the ’ember’ months, September, October, November, and December.

The ’ember’ months are believed to always have unpleasant activities in it, like motor crashes and accidents.

Mustapha therefore educated drivers on how to prevent accidents during these months.

He said, “now that we are in the raining season, drivers should fix their windshield wipers, if it’s faulty, because they need it to have a proper view.

“There are bad roads, and some portholes might have been filled with water, deceiving drivers into it, but your wipers would help you sight it and be safe.

He further said that drivers should also be fit, as well as their cars, so as to avoid unnecessary breakdowns on roads.

He said, “drivers should check their motors well before taking it out, they should know if it’s in its proper condition to avoid unnecessary breakdown or brake fail.

“They should also check themselves to see if they’re physically fit and healthy, so that they don’t fall asleep while driving to avoid accidents.”

Also, he added that drivers should be cautious of what they drink before driving, as he stressed that only water is allowed for them to drink before driving.

“Drink only water before driving not alcohol, if it’s necessary for you to drink,” he said.

He therefore said the families, victims and friends, would pay dearly for not adhering to these instructions, adding that accidents might take lives of people and at the same time affect many people.

“You have said to your wife that you’ll return very soon, don’t go and involve in an accident, you’ll not only be affected, but your loved ones and other road users would be affected greatly too,” he said.
