A delegation of traditional rulers from neighbouring Niger Republic has commiserated with the government and people of Yobe State over the flood disaster and Mafa incident that claimed lives and properties in some parts of the state.

Director General of Press and Media Affairs to Yobe State Governor, Mamman Mohammed, made this known in a statement released on Saturday.

According to the statement, the Emir of Maine-Soroa and leader of the delegation, Abdou Katielou Katiella Gasso, said that as good neighbours, they were obliged to identify with the state at this trying moment.

He said the people of Yobe State and Niger Republic are closely related through culture, religion, and intermarriages and “therefore, what affects one automatically affects the other.”

While responding, Governor Mai Mala Buni commended the traditional rulers for showing love, care, and concern.

“I commend you for maintaining the traditional ties between our people; this would be encouraged and promoted,” he said.

DAILY POST reported that scores were killed, and many injured when ISWAP terrorists invaded Mafa on September 1, 2024.

It was also reported that many local government areas were cut off from Damaturu, the state capital, due to flooding that washed away bridges and link roads.
